Every Law & Order Prosecutor Ranked by Conviction Rate
Who wins the most? Counting every case each prosecutor leads across Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Dominick “Sonny” Carisi Jr. has the best record (95% of 92 cases) and Casey Novak the worst (70% of 53). Jack McCoy leads the most cases, 309.
The ranking
Prosecutors who lead ten or more cases, ranked by conviction rate: guilty verdicts and plea deals as a share of every case that ends in a verdict, a plea or a hung jury. A prosecutor who appears in more than one show is counted across all of them.

How the cases are counted
- Each defendant an episode’s trial is about counts once, by how the case ends on screen. A conviction on any charge, including a lesser one, counts as a guilty verdict.
- A jury’s verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity counts as an acquittal. Dropped, dismissed and unresolved cases are not counted, and neither are accomplices who plead guilty to testify.
- Only the prosecutor who leads the case is credited here. Each show’s own conviction-rate page also counts second chairs.
