Season 2 recap
Season 2 aired on Citytv from February to May 2025, the team unchanged: DS Henry Graff and DS Frankie Bateman investigate for Insp. Vivienne Holness, Deputy Crown Attorney Theo Forrester prosecutes, and pathologist Dr. Lucy Da Silva and Mark Yohannes back them up. The regulars gain histories. In “White Squirrel City,” when a 15-year-old’s prints are found on the knife that killed a man in a Montrose Park encampment, Forrester holds off on an adult charge, recalling a snowball with a rock inside that he was handed as a newcomer from Jamaica; the adult behind the attack is the mother of the victim’s daughter. In “Hoggs Hollow,” Holness confronts her mentor, Supt. Charles Bishop, who altered his notes on an earlier death in the house where a young wife has now fallen.
In “Fool's Gold,” a Pearson airport ramp agent who swapped the waybills on a shipment of gold bars is found hanged; his friend admits killing him, and the bars prove to be tungsten fakes. A stabbing in the PATH in “Digital Lipstick” leads through a dating site for cheaters to a pastor two women accuse of rape; his wife withdraws his alibi, but no arrest is shown. A comic collapses at the Rogers Centre in “The Man in the Stadium,” poisoned over a joke about a news anchor’s old affair, and her husband is taken into custody. “Canadian Dream” exposes a college that preys on international students, and the gunman, a grieving father, is talked down on a Humber River bridge. “Face Value” is fought largely in court, where a son who faked his degrees is tried for having his parents killed; no verdict is shown.
In the finale, “Tango Romeo,” a travel agent dies of a nerve agent in his Mimico driveway and proves to be a CSIS field officer. Graff’s half-brother, Miles, mentioned in “Canadian Dream,” is an associate director there and blocks the inquiry. The killer is the dead man’s junior colleague, Alice Temple, whom he repeatedly drugged and raped; her complaints went nowhere, and the director says an operation to bring home four Canadian journalists from Moscow came first. A manslaughter plea and the director’s resignation are proposed but not settled, Graff accuses Miles of using him to win his boss’s job, and Miles had raised Graff’s belief that their father played a part in his mother’s death, a thread “XOXO” takes up.
