Biography
Mark Yohannes digs evidence out of devices and records for the Major Crime Unit, behind Graff and Bateman’s cases from the opener, “The Key to the Castle” (2024). His finds often turn an investigation. In “The Real Eve” he shows that a gallerist’s parking-lot alibi rests on her assistant paying with her own PIN; in “The Sound of Silence” he recovers a hidden video from a dead woman’s tablet showing a radio host hurting and restraining her as she says no; and in “Boys Will Be Boys” he traces the hazing photos to a smartwatch, a lead that points to the injured former player who leaked them.
His private life enters a case in “Forget Me Not.” A former mob hitman living at Gracewood Manor is found frozen in a nearby park, and the retirement home is also where Yohannes’s mother, Aida, lives with early-onset dementia, and he confides in a colleague about her condition.
Yohannes stays on after Graff’s departure. In “Diplomatico,” the first case Bateman works with John Darcy of Guns and Gangs, he goes through old wiretaps for any hint that the two murdered Cosentino brothers were targets of a contract killing, and finds none.
